Abhin Kumar, DPM, FASPS, DABPM, FACPM, is board-certified as a Diplomate for the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, a Fellow for the American College of Podiatric Medicine, and a Fellow for the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. He treats patients at the Podiatry Institute of the South with offices in Senatobia, Mississippi, West Memphis, Arkansas, and Memphis, Millington, and Bartlett, Tennessee.
Dr. Kumar is from Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he graduated from Harrison High School in 2009. He accepted the Presidential Scholarship to attend Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences with University Honors in 2013. Dr. Kumar then attended California School of Podiatric Medicine in Oakland, California. He was again awarded the Presidential Scholarship during his time there.
Dr. Kumar was actively involved in many school organizations, volunteering events, and community service throughout the Bay
Area. Apart from his commitment to academics, he was part of his basketball team and won the American Podiatric Medical School Association basketball tournament twice.
After graduation, Dr. Kumar returned home, where he completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency with reconstructive rearfoot and ankle certification at Beaumont Farmington Hills Botsford Campus in Michigan. He was actively involved in podiatric research and participated in his hospital’s research conference during his tenure.
He served as chief resident for Baja Operation Footprint Project, where he went to Honduras and operated on the underserved pediatric population with various foot and ankle pathologies. In addition, he received specialized training in podiatric dermatopathology at Bako Diagnostics in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Dr. Kumar believes a healthy patient-physician relationship is vital and treats his patients as family. He is down to earth and realistic with them about their condition and effective treatment options.
Dr. Kumar's goal is to get patients back on their feet and promote a healthy lifestyle. He has been a Memphis native since 2020. When not working, he enjoys the great outdoors, working out, watching sports, and traveling.
